There were sort of little new waves going on all over the world at this moment. We had John Cassavetes in New York, London, Japan, ever everywhere. There were little new waves going on. I think France wins because it had the highest concentration of great films, really great directors of multiple generations working at the same time. So that's what made it such a movement. It was really famous in its day. It was like punk rock. It was a thing at that moment. It wasn't 10 years later like we do over here. You look like, oh, that was a pretty good era. It's like, no, while it was going on, it was a big deal, which is unusual in film history as far as I can tell. It seems unique. Aujourd'hui, tout le monde ador�� la nouvelle vague. I mean, I just felt like I was a little part of making Rick's childhood dream come true. You know, he, he loves Goddard. He loves new Wave and, and. I feel like he made this movie to meet his heroes, to say thank you to them, you know? So I got to just be a small part of that. You join a subculture when you become a cinephile. I discovered this in my early 20s. It was like a special world that exists. It's existed long before you. It'll exist after you. You can kind of get in and there's a whole world, literally an international community of films that people who love films. And it gives you so much more than any art form I can think of because it involves everything.
