Officials expressed their backing at VTIS, inspiring many students to pursue careers in this field. Vietnam's blockchain ecosystem is well-positioned for significant growth: 🌟 21% of Vietnamese own cryptocurrency (Triple A, 2021) - a high rate of adoption that provides a solid foundation. 💻 Vietnam has a large pool of skilled blockchain developers, ready to contribute to the industry's advancement. 💳 The digital payments space is highly competitive, with major players like Zalopay, VNPAY, Tether.io, ATX ($VNDC stablecoin), and Terminus Network vying for market share. 📜 Comprehensive blockchain regulations are anticipated in Q1 2023, and exchanges are preparing to apply for licenses. With strong government support, a tech-savvy population, and talented developers, Vietnam is well-equipped to become a leading blockchain hub in Southeast Asia. VIETNAM AIMS TO LEAD THE REGION IN BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY 📑 On October 22, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc signed a decision to announce the National Strategy for Blockchain Application and Development until 2025, with a vision toward 2030. This strategy sets ambitious goals for Vietnam to become a regional leader in blockchain technology, with a strong international presence in blockchain research, deployment, and applications. ️🎯 To achieve this vision, the strategy outlines key objectives, including: ✅ Developing 20 reputable blockchain brands in the region, focusing on platforms, products, and services. ✅ Operating at least three blockchain research and testing centers in major cities, forming a national blockchain network. ✅ Securing Vietnam's position among the top 10 blockchain training and research institutions in Asia. 💡 To realize these goals, the government has established a 2024-2030 Action Plan, prioritizing five key areas: legal framework development, infrastructure enhancement, human resource training, blockchain applications, and international research collaboration. Startups raked in just $7 billion in 2023 compared to $26.6 billion the year before. However, amidst this global cooling-off period, a different story unfolds in Asia. China and India, despite their strict cryptocurrency regulations, exhibit a more optimistic outlook on Web3. China, in particular, has shown strong interest in utilizing blockchain technology for various applications, ranging from trade finance to supply chain security. This interest stems from the country's emphasis on technological advancement and scientific innovation. However, Chinese authorities remain wary of blockchain's potential to dismantle the state-controlled financial system. This unique perspective shapes China's approach to Web3, which they view as an extension of their existing robust digital financial services ecosystem. Two key developments in December 2023 solidify China's commitment to exploring Web3: National Strategic Web3 Plan: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the development of a national Web3 plan, building upon local initiatives in major cities. GBA Web3 Fund: The Chinese venture capital fund, Greater Bay Area (GBA) Capital, pledged to establish a $10 billion fund specifically for Web3 development, aiming to transform the GBA into a regional hub.
