During his walkthrough, Adani interacted with construction workers, engineers, women staff, fire fighters, artisans and differently-abled colleagues, acknowledging the collective effort that brought the airport to life. The airport recently received its Aerodrome Licence from the DGCA, clearing it for operations. Developed as a 74:26 joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) and CIDCO, NMIA will initially handle 20 million passengers and 0.5 million metric tons of cargo annually, with full completion expected to accommodate 90 million passengers and 3.2 million metric tons of cargo. The project, costing Rs 16,700 crore, aims to reduce congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport while meeting India’s growing demand for air travel.
