It's One Month After World Clean-Up Day, So What’s Next?? On September 20th, the world united under one mission to clean, restore and protect our planet. From streets to shorelines, people and organizations came together, proving that collective action is still one of the strongest forces for environmental change. At Ekkonow, World Clean-Up Day wasn’t just about picking up litter, it was about picking up responsibility.we collaborated with the different environmental organisations in Calabar to create an event on the theme: Tackling Waste through Circular Fashion. we did community entry, sourcing for fashion designers, clean up and other fun activities. It reminded us that sustainability starts with each decision we make from what we consume to how we dispose of it. But now, one month later, we ask ourselves an important question: What’s next after the clean-up? The answer lies in continuity, turning one day's actions into everyday habits. Because the real work begins after the hashtags fade. ✨ Here’s how we can keep the movement alive: 1.Sustain the Momentum:Keep communities engaged through local clean-up clubs and school based recycling programs. 2. ❄️ We are excited to share our *cool* new sustainability initiative to lower our environmental footprint! ❄️ In collaboration with a customer at ETH Zürich, we piloted a project to reduce cold pack waste. Over three months, two research groups collected several hundred cold packs from shipments. About 80% will be directly reused by us at LubioScience, while the rest will be repurposed by a local ice-cream shop. This joint effort reduces waste and contributes to a smaller footprint. ♻️ We take the environment seriously ♻️ At LubioScience, we realize that we are part of an industry where sustainability is often not the main focus. Whether it's long supply chains, packaging waste or animal welfare, we still face a lot of issues and there is much room for improvement. Nevertheless, actions speak louder than words and with this in mind we have taken the route towards becoming a carbon neutral company.
