Using a template for your photography website isn’t necessarily bad. It can save time and help you get a site live quickly. But too many photographers stop there, assuming the template “does the job.” The problem? A template is generic by nature. Thousands of other photographers might be using the same design. If you don’t go the extra mile to customize it, your site will blend in with the crowd—and that’s the opposite of what your website should do. What does personalization actually mean? - Updating typography and colors to match your brand - Rewriting all copy in your own voice - Tailoring the layout to guide users through your unique offerings - Showcasing a curated, niche-specific portfolio - Removing any pre-filled demo content or vague default sections Even the best-designed template can’t reflect your personality, your values, or your market positioning unless you make it your own. A great photography website isn’t just a pretty shell—it’s a thoughtful experience crafted around your audience and business goals. If you're going to use a template, think of it as scaffolding. What you build on top is what really matters.

The #1 Reason Designers Hate Your Photos (And How to Fix It) Most photographers ruin brilliant shots in one simple way: They forget the designer. 😱 That means stunning images get dumped in a folder, never used. Not because they weren’t good… But because there was nowhere to put the copy. Yesterday, on a client call, their marketing team stopped me mid-brief: “Please—leave plenty of negative space.” They told me they had stacks of gorgeous shots sitting idle because there was no room for type. I remembered a QBE shoot where the designer specifically asked for space. Because I gave it, he had all the flexibility he needed—and the images lived on across formats. The truth? Negative space isn’t wasted space. It’s the room that lets your work actually get used. It turns a one-off image into an asset with a long shelf-life. Photographers—have you ever lost a great shot because you forgot the space? 🐷✨ Don’t make a pig’s ear of your photography. Too often we see brands and individuals relying on over-edited, over-exposed, or even overly revealing images. While the intention is usually to grab attention, the reality is that it often puts audiences off. Strong photography doesn’t need to shout — it should communicate clearly, authentically, and with purpose. Here are 5 professional tips from Lbc Photographic to elevate your visual content: 1️⃣ Use Natural Light – It creates warmth and authenticity that artificial lighting often can’t replicate. 2️⃣ Prioritise Composition – Symmetry, leading lines, and framing make your content more impactful. 3️⃣ Capture Authentic Moments – Audiences connect best with real, candid expressions. 4️⃣ Experiment with Angles – Fresh perspectives can transform even simple shots. 5️⃣ Focus on the Details – Backgrounds, textures, and props can take an image from good to outstanding. 🔑 In today’s digital-first world, professional photography isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about trust, credibility, and connection. If your brand needs support in creating impactful, professional imagery, feel free to connect or message me directly. In partnership with dks group Andi Deeks. A raw photo is not a finished product. The reality? Most photographers don’t have the time to handle retouching. They’re busy shooting back-to-back projects, running on tight deadlines, and clients always want faster delivery. Quality suffers when the post-production isn’t given the same care as the shoot. You can have the best camera, perfect lighting, and a talented photographer. But without proper retouching, the image often falls flat. Here’s what retouching really does: - Fixes lighting, color, and contrast so the photo looks alive - Removes distractions that pull attention away from the subject - Highlights the best features, whether it’s a dish, a space, or a person - Keeps a brand’s visuals consistent across every platform That’s where Halo comes in. Our team handles professional retouching directly from RAW, delivering polished, consistent, high-impact images that elevate brands and free creatives to focus on what they do best. ❓ Natural Retouching: Trend or Necessity ❓ The topic of natural retouching is especially relevant today. Many leading global publications strive to minimize retouching or make it as imperceptible as possible—retouching that doesn’t look retouched. In these circumstances, it’s important to define for yourself the type of final product you want to deliver. If we’re talking about photography, the key is understanding what your client wants: glamorous shots with flawless skin, or authentic, natural images that show even the fine lines? For a retoucher, it’s always about finding the balance between client expectations and market trends. Not every client needs advanced pixel-level dodge & burn; in commercial fashion, most photographers use basic frequency separation techniques to save time—there’s no point in spending hours on each image if it isn’t justified. I recently had a funny experience: after working for a long time in a minimal, natural style, an old client reached out and asked, “Can you retouch it like before?” At first, I didn’t understand what he meant, but then I realized he wanted a more dramatic and transformative edit—something that now feels “too much” to me! Nonetheless, I adjusted to his needs and delivered what he requested. How do you feel about natural retouching? What do you believe is optimal when working with today’s clients and brands? #retouch #photography #retouching #fashionretouch #naturalretouch #retoucher #retouchingtrends
