Traditional “classroom-first” safety training is outdated for frontline work 🚮 Here’s my take: Most frontline roles can’t pause operations for lengthy in-person sessions. We’ve got far better tech now: microlearning, mobile tools, real-time refreshers, asynchronous learning. Employers who insist on “seat time” are choosing convenience over impact — risking engagement, safety, and cost. Case in point: Flagger Force switched from face-to-face + paper assessment to eduMe’s learning platform & saved US$250,000 in claims. They also got far better visibility into who actually retained knowledge — not just attendance. So here’s a challenge: what if your next safety or compliance training was completely reimagined as mobile + “just enough” learning + continuous refreshers? Let’s stop striving for training duration. "Our training completion rate is low. What are we doing wrong?" Most probably their workflow looked like this: 1. Employee gets training notification via email 2. Clicks link to separate LMS platform 3. Logs in with different credentials 4. Completes course in isolation 5. Switches back to work tools 6. Tries to apply learning (if they remember) Average time lost per training session: 45+ minutes (including context-switching recovery). The Integration Experiment: Instead of sending employees to another platform, you can embed training directly into Confluence, where teams already collaborate and document processes.
