The Biggest Learning From Hosting 5 Leadership Dinners 👇 Over the past few months, we’ve welcomed more than 80+ People & Culture leaders across Amsterdam and Berlin to our Behind The Mask dinners. The biggest learning? Leaders are craving spaces where they can drop the corporate mask and connect on a human level. A consistent pattern emerged: leaders arrived nervous, uncertain, or guarded and left inspired, confident, and open. What shifted wasn’t performance or framework, but unmasking circles, shared stories, and honest conversations that reminded them they are not alone, and they don't have to be. Key takeaways: 1. Authentic connection is more impactful than any leadership model. 2. Vulnerability builds resilience more effectively than “toughness.” 3. There is a growing demand for leadership wellbeing solutions: mental health platforms, mindful leadership tools, and support for grief and resilience. As one leader put it: “Knowing you’re not alone as a leader is healing. You’re building something critical.” “Mandatory for leadership teams.” The message is clear: psychological safety and belonging are not nice-to-haves they are absolutely essential for the future of leadership. Beautiful reflections and I can't wait to catch up soon xx
Love this Marie ! What strikes me is that many HR leaders create safe spaces for others, but rarely experience them themselves. And if those whose mission is people don’t have it in their own workplace, what does that mean for employees at every other level? When HR is given the space to show up unmasked, it sets the standard for what’s possible across the whole company !
Marie this is so good, and you're right- the world is so strange right now and I believe leaders are lonely, they're craving spaces for real connections and to take down their masks so they can feel fully seen and heard as themselves.
Marie Chaproniere This is such a powerful reflection, Marie. Creating spaces where leaders can show up as their full selves is not just refreshing—it’s transformative. The shift from guarded to open speaks volumes about the need for psychological safety and genuine connection in leadership. Thank you for championing this movement.
Ready to unmask and transform as people leaders?
That shift from guarded to open happens fast when leaders finally get permission to be human. The mask metaphor works - most leadership spaces reward performance over authenticity. Creating space where vulnerability builds strength instead of weakness sounds rare and needed Marie Chaproniere.
Thank you for creating a space where leaders can literally "drop the mask" it can be exhausting pitching to different levels but being amongst others that really see you is special!
Great learning! For more companies offering spaces for unmasking :) or, even better, for more leaders unmasking themselves so they "make the space" for others to follow.
