🎉 "Automated Evidence Extraction and Scoring for Corporate Climate Policy Engagement: A Multilingual RAG Approach" has been accepted at #EMNLP 2025! paper link: https://lnkd.in/eywnspwc 💡 What we built: #LobbyMap Search - a multilingual RAG system that automatically extracts and classifies evidence of corporate climate lobbying from thousands of documents. Think of it as giving transparency advocates superpowers to audit corporate climate positions at scale. 🔍 Why it matters: While companies significantly influence climate policy through lobbying, tracking their actual positions has mainly been manual work. Our system processes corporate reports in multiple languages and formats, automatically scoring climate policy stances on a -2 to +2 scale aligned with #IPCC guidelines. ⚡ Besides key technical wins: Sometimes retrieved evidence actually outperforms human-annotated gold standard (!) 🌍 Real impact: We help democratize access to corporate climate accountability data. What used to take analysts weeks can now happen in minutes, enabling faster responses to corporate greenwashing and more informed investment decisions. Huge thanks to my co-authors and the InfluenceMap team for this collaboration bridging NLP and climate finance research. #EMNLP2025 #ClimateAI #RAG #NLP #ESG #ClimateFinance #CorporateTransparency #lobbying #climatelitigation #climatechange UZH Department of Finance UZH.ai Center of Competence for Sustainable Finance Climate Arc
What a great tool! Is the research team also looking in a similar tool for government policy?

1moGiven the breakthrough in heatwave attribution to major emitters (see ETH Zürich's press release https://lnkd.in/deip_8fH) by Yann Quilcaille, Sonia I. Seneviratne, and team, this could be a useful tool to dig deeper into climate lobbying at scale. And a big thx again to InfluenceMap for helping us in the development of this tool!
