After 16 weeks of paid family leave spent with my daughter, I am returning to work in my 9th year at Deloitte Consulting - continuing to help our clients’ digitally transform their sales, service, and customer operations capabilities.       While I am ready to get back to work and solve challenges larger than “Where is the Green Sheep?”, I feel the need to take a moment (in my first ever LinkedIn post) to pause and reflect on how grateful I am for the time my company has provided me to spend with my daughter and share in the parental responsibilities as a partner to my spouse.     The first sentence was not a typo, Deloitte Digital ENCOURAGED me, to take 16 weeks of paid leave within the first year of my daughter’s life to bond and to grow with her.  We spent time exploring local parks, frequenting the farmer’s market, reading books, swimming in lakes, laughing, crying, and enjoying lots of cuddles.  I was there to witness her say her first word, eat her first food, take her first step, and I wouldn’t trade anything to be able to do it all again.      I believe the world would be a better place if we all (parental figures) spent more undivided time with our children, and I am so thankful to work at a firm that believes in this and is able to provide this benefit to their employees.    So, as I fire up my laptop today and join back with my colleagues who I haven’t worked with since April, I’m happy to be able to scroll through a camera roll of memories I made with my daughter and proud to be an employee at Deloitte.
