Molina Healthcare launches Wellness Without Walls with A Home for All

Yesterday in King’s Lynn, we officially launched our new mobile service vehicle! The ribbon was cut by Karl Williams, our Clinical Lead and Operational Lead for Norfolk and Waveney Talking Therapies. We are taking mental health support on the road with the launch of our new Mobile Service Vehicle (MSV), a fully equipped therapy van designed to bring talking therapies directly to communities. During the initial 6-month pilot period, the MSV will be based at Chatterton House in King’s Lynn. After the 6-month pilot, and based on feedback from service users and staff, the idea is for the MSV to be stationed for extended periods of time in various locations to deliver ongoing treatments. We also plan to use it at community events, family fun days etc to promote the service we offer into the heart of our communities. As this new research shows, home visitors play a pivotal role in expectant mothers’ and families’ #health and #wellbeing. We are deeply honored to support the vital work of HRSA’s MIECHV program nationwide. Every day, we see the positive effects on children and families.    “The MIHOPE study found that direct interactions between home visitors and families had statistically significant, long-term positive effects on maternal and family wellbeing outcomes by the time children reached kindergarten. The positive outcomes included: improvements in families’ economic circumstances, reduced family conflict and violence, better maternal mental and behavioral health, and strengthened parent-child interactions.”

Children’s Health Foundation is pleased to announce that we have received a $5,000 grant from Valvoline Inc.’s Happy to Help program to benefit the Child Study Center in Oklahoma City. The funding will provide essential upgrades to therapy rooms, creating more welcoming and functional spaces for children and families receiving critical developmental and behavioral health services. 🎤 GRACE Seminar Series 🎤 We were delighted to host another thought-provoking webinar in our GRACE seminar series, led by Dr Kate Sykes, Assistant Professor in Community Wellbeing at Northumbria University. Dr Sykes spoke on improving cancer screening for seldom heard populations, with a particular focus on people with learning disabilities and severe mental illness. Her talk highlighted: ✅ Health disparities faced by these groups ✅ The importance of co-production in designing services ✅ How approaches such as universal design can make screening and prevention more accessible Attendees joined from across the GRACE team, our partner NHS sites, and colleagues at Lancaster University. The discussion that followed underlined both the determination to make cancer screening more inclusive and the challenges posed by systems that can prioritise governance over individual choice. It was encouraging to see the commitment of colleagues across the field—and at GRACE we share the same goal: ensuring that everyone has equitable access to information and the ability to make an informed choice.

Over the past few weeks, Northwest Human Services CEO Kim Leathley, MBA has been a strong voice for community health at both the Oregon State Legislature and a roundtable hosted by State Senator Deb Patterson. Kim joined fellow healthcare leaders to discuss the local and statewide impacts of federal policy changes, including H.R. 1 and new Medicaid work and eligibility requirements, on the patients and families we serve. Representing Oregon’s network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Kim presented data highlighting the impacts of federal policy changes and strategies to reduce harm to our community members — from veterans managing PTSD, to youth aging out of foster care, to single parents balancing work and caregiving. Her message was clear: policies that restrict healthcare access don’t just affect individual patients. They ripple through entire communities. A respite care program operated over several years by the Child and Family Health Collaborative and CareSource demonstrated its potential with a 67% reduction in inpatient services in 2021. 📉 Yet access to behavioral health respite remains limited today. How will federal budget cuts impact local communities? Throughout the communities IMG serves, this question is coming up again and again—and we're trying to help answer it. Over the coming weeks Epicenter Mt. Pleasant will talk to organizations about how they're preparing for best and worst case scenarios and what those impacts could mean for residents. First up, Epicenter spoke with Community Mental Health for Central Michigan to learn what Medicaid cuts could mean for local mental health services. Key takeaways: ➡️ For now, CMHCM is providing care as usual—that means serving thousands of area residents with a range of mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, and more. ➡️ Their budget is directly related to the number of Medicaid-qualified individuals in their footprint, so new requirements or restrictions could ultimately impact their funding. ➡️ Residents can learn about the kinds of services that CMHs provide and how they contribute to a healthier community, and speak up to policymakers about the value of mental health services.
