Less than 2% of venture funding is invested in women. You know what could change that statistic? Educating more executive women about venture investing, the problems women are solving with billion to trillion dollar total addressable markets. A small group of scrappy, motivated investors and founders, including yours truly, Laura Baldwin, Lyndsey Harper, MD, FACOG, IF, Stephanie Collins, Taylor MacKinnon Boyle, CFP® and Rachel F. seek to do just that. Yesterday, we hosted our inaugural “Bad Ass Babes Invest” summit, graciously hosted by Monica Gaudioso at Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, LLP, a law firm led by women. We convened a standing room only crowd of executive women to address the WHAT, the WHY (Kerry Rupp at True Wealth Ventures) and HOW who all agreed they had 5 more gals to invite next time. From advising to writing a check, there are lots of ways to support the ecosystem. Guess what? Dynamic founders solving big problems are in Dallas. Many of them, despite proven products and services, still struggle to raise money, compared to men (especially in the healthcare space) who raise money on “dreams and a promise of a rainbow.” Founders like Cece Rockwell at SelfSuffi solving the administrative burden to deliver social services which could have a multiplier effect on our economy. Like Stephanie Collins at Eido Bio with a proven first of its kind menopause treatment every person born with ovaries will experience. Like Donna Spafford Letier at Gardenuity transforming mental health, one desktop garden at a time, Brenda Stoner at ByteTrail revolutionizing the protection of our critical infrastructure Lyndsey Harper, MD, FACOG, IF at Rosy Wellness providing a spectrum of women’s health resources at your fingertips and Margot Carter Cien.ai delivering accretive revenue opportunities to clients through AI powered CRM data analytics in 5 days. Let’s do this ladies. Please reach out to me to learn more, and stay tuned for more updates.
