FIFAfrica: How youth are fighting misinformation and disinformation in Africa

GMN INTERVIEW | MISINFORMATION AND DISINFORMATION - nbc: The Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa (FIFAfrica) is an important platform that brings together experts, activists, and civic organisations to discuss how to protect digital rights and open civic spaces. This year, one of the sessions, "Digitalise Youth – From Hashtags to Policy: Digital Rights and Youth Engagement for Open Civic Space", focuses on how young people are shaping conversations around accountability, human rights, and democracy in the digital age. A central concern is the rise of misinformation and disinformation. These distortions of truth are not only undermining public trust but also threatening civic freedoms, endangering journalists, and fuelling division in many African societies.
