Yesterday, NAPC's Clinical Chair, Prof. Andy Brooks, joined leading voices in urgent and emergency care to discuss the future of infrastructure, discharge, and community care with Westminster Forum Projects. Andy reflected on the need to spread good practice more widely, noting how difficult it is to get a full overview of services, even for professionals. If we struggle to navigate the system, how can patients? The conversation reinforced the need for care that’s truly person-centred. 💡 A valuable discussion with leaders including Prof Jugdeep Dhesi, Prof Suzanne Mason, Dr Julian Coffey, and Sara Hazzard (She/her) MCIPR. #PersonCentredCare #NHS #HealthPolicy #Leadership

🚗 Driving back to Pittsburgh a bit early today, so I wasn’t able to catch the full final day of the 2025 CAPC National Seminar. Even in a shortened day, the insights were powerful and references to Lady Gaga were plentiful (video below). Both will stay with me. ☺️ Key takeaways from Day Three: 1️⃣ Equity as our North Star. Serious illness policy and specialty palliative care interventions should be developed utilizing an equity lens. 2️⃣ Equity in research matters. Too often inequities are dismissed in the limitations section of papers. We must do better. 3️⃣ Reframing our asks. To advance our programs, we must adapt our language to align with the larger goals of our organizations. Adaptation = success. 4️⃣ Redefining productivity. Leadership does generate direct revenue—but its value lies in building strategic relationships and creating long-term organizational impact. Grateful for three days of learning, connection, and challenge—and already looking forward to putting these lessons into action. 💪🏼 KAREN BULLOCK Kimberly Curseen Alexander Smith Chin-Lin Ching Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) #CAPCSeminar25 #PalliativeCare #Equity #Leadership #HealthcareInnovation #HPM #HAPC

Today was an inspiring 360 day !! Melissa H. Molina-Trinidad, MBA, LSSGB, C-TAGME mentee Natalie Mar C. NALHE Tri-State Chapter member! and Project Manager at Northwell Health for Equity of Care. We did a quick chat about the importance of advancing health equity, what it means to be a first-generation leader in healthcare, and the power of bringing your whole story to the table. Natalie’s insight reminded me of one of my favorite #NetworkingNuggets: 💡 “Your voice doesn’t just add to the conversation—it shapes the vision for tomorrow.” At National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives conversations like these are what fuel bold leadership, legacy-building, and connection across our profession. Lorie Thibodeaux, MHA, CDE®, CDP®, CDT, LSSBB, CPHQ the work that you are doing for young professionals is amazing !!! From dust choked clinics to national policy leadership is forged where human need is greatest. In my groundbreaking essay, A Deeper Look at Resilient Leadership, I delve into the transformative power of frontline service in shaping a leadership ethos that effectively translates compassion into lasting and robust systems. On the ground, urgency teaches humility, listening, and action. Those lessons don’t belong only to the field they’re the blueprint for governance that works. During COVID 19, that ethos translated into system design: a national emergency response center for real-time coordination, modular clinical capacity, and a transparent digital ledger for medical supplies each step aimed at trust and resilience, not quick fixes. The essay unequivocally demands for leadership that embodies the qualities of a "healer-builder," seamlessly combining empathy with institution-building, and integrity with innovation to ensure that systems are left in a stronger state than when they were first encountered. #ResilientLeadership #PublicHealth #HealthSystems #Governance #Integrity #Somalia #LeadershipInPractice
