🆕 ECCC call for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme The European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) has just launched a new call for proposals under the #DigitalEuropeProgramme, with a total budget of up to EUR 50 million to strengthen Europe’s #cybersecurityecosystem. The CYBER-09 call supports deployment actions in key areas, including: 🟢 AI-powered cybersecurity (EUR 15M): development of secure, trustworthy #AI solutions for #threatdetection, response, and intelligence. 🟢 Uptake of cybersecurity solutions by SMEs (EUR 15M): fostering adoption of proven tools by SMEs through incentives and integration support. 🟢 Coordinated preparedness testing (EUR 10M): enhancing EU #cyberreadiness through cross-border stress tests & simulation 🟢 Regional Cable Hubs (EUR 10M): securing Europe’s submarine cable infrastructure & reinforcing the resilience of strategic digital entry points. Recently, I was discussing a NetSec solution — and surprisingly, the topic circled back to something as basic as network segmentation. Out of curiosity, I asked why. After all, we have so many SDN solutions capable of micro-segmentation today. Their response, dawned on me — NetSec still stands for Network + Security. No matter how advanced the tech gets, the fundamentals remain the same. In this era where everything is “AI this” and “AI that,” it’s easy to forget that firewalls aren’t extinct. They’re still the doorway to your network. When you add capabilities like application, user, and device awareness, you realize how strong a foundation can still be built on this technology. This isn’t something for a junior firewall administrator alone. I had this discussion with passionate stalwarts from Network and Cybersecurity teams— all focused on a very key question every business asks: 👉 “How do I sweat my existing assets?” It’s a minimalist concept, really.
