Speaking during the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA)'s Virtual Work Zone Management Conference, the LHSFNA's Ryan R. Papariello, GSP, shared how positive protection (like mobile barriers and trailer-mounted attenuators) and internal traffic control systems can significantly reduce work zone injuries. The Fund can help incorporate the use of these protections into site-specific safety plans, one of many benefits we offer LIUNA signatory contractors.

𝗢𝗧𝗦𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗮𝗵 The Office of Transport Safety Investigations (OTSI) has launched an investigation into an incident which occurred on 15 October 2025 in North Balgowlah. A bus operating a scheduled service left the roadway during a left turn and crashed into residential properties, causing significant structural damage to a carport. The impact caused the carport to collapse onto a parked car, with the bus continuing into the front yard of a neighbouring property and damaging a retaining wall. OTSI investigates transport incidents to identify contributing factors and sharing lessons learnt. We provide recommendations and highlight actions for operators, regulators, and government agencies to prevent recurrence and improve passenger and public safety. More information about the bus crash into properties, North Balgowlah https://lnkd.in/gnce_6SJ is on the OTSI website. #BusCrash #BusSafety #TransportSafety Image source: OTSI
