Why I don't care about your hours

I REALLY don’t want to hear this from my team. Every day, I hear: - Can I run an errand later? - Can I work from home today? - Can I come in later this morning? - My child is sick, can I bring her to the doctor's? I don’t need the backstory. I hired you because I TRUST you to deliver. I’m not here to micromanage every hour you work. Times have changed. Here’s the truth: It’s not about hours or appearances. It’s about results. Get the job done—and do it well. My advice to leaders: Treat your team like adults. Not children. That's it. It's not rocket science. Because when you trust your team? They don’t just meet expectations. They exceed them. -- Thank you Shulin Lee for the contribution.

Professionalism and dedication achieve RESULTS. Period. If you want to 'improve outcomes' via micromanaging, be prepared to be shepherding a flock of employees that REQUIRE micromanaging (after the rest of them quit).

Yes, I would like to see this work ethic more and more, my experience instead was a Day I helped in a company and managed to do the work two people would need 3 days to do, on my own in 5 hours, and the result was not recognition or a kind of respect, no, I was told to wait 3 hours to be fully paid for that day... This is a real experience and you only need a few of those days to shut down and just work your hours so everyone loses. This can become a burn out situation in a blink. It's a very serious topic not only because of the healthy reasons but more because everyone loses so much outcome, motivation and creativity.

You’d be surprised how well this may not translate between industries and how well people can become hiding their nature from their leaders. Even children know how to avoid getting in trouble lol Edit: Should have said how “good” people become at hiding their nature from leaders… system is designed at my level and in my experience to encourage the practice of hiding faults and self awareness and self accountability isn’t something that’s valued in the interview process… no one wants to hire someone who doesn’t have all the answers or failed miserably and learned from their mistakes… breeds narcissistic traits and tendencies when trying to develop leadership in house. Sorry just a thought and feel it important to try and acknowledge what unrealistic standards and expectations create in a workplace. May not be the same at all levels but at a foundational level seems relevant and mostly accurate IMHO…

What about the fulfillment of working hour regulations? In Indonesia it must be 7 hours per day or 8 hours per day.
