Fleet Manager was the job description. Fleet, AND safety, AND claims manager is the actual role. Facilities Director was the original title on the posting. I like solving problems, so logistics and project work has been a great fit. In both spaces there are always problems large and small to solve and I find it rewarding to be able to be part of the solution. // A memorable client ‘win’ you achieved recently? Getting a key piece of operational equipment to a remote site in WA. The equipment was instrumental in improving efficiencies for the client. // What was your last experience at work that made you stronger? Navigating the approvals (both internal and external) required to get the aforementioned equipment to site. This required a great deal of coercing and patience to achieve the end goal. // Which of the Prime's core values do you most relate to, and why? (Integrity, Innovation and safety). INTEGRITY - In this industry it is so important to “Do what you say, and say what you do” as you are only as good as your last job and the way you communicate your successes and issues to clients is critical.

Whether it’s: ✅ Mobilising security teams at short notice ✅ Adapting schedules to meet construction site needs without additional charges ✅ Ensuring officers are fully briefed, trained, and supported No two days are the same, and that’s what makes it exciting. Let's talk about something that doesn't get enough credit in our industry. Relationships! Sure, we're in the business of commercial painting and industrial flooring. But at its core? It's all about people. That facilities manager who's been with the company for 30 years and knows every nook and cranny? Gold mine of information. The maintenance team that takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? They help us out on every job. Even that super efficient admin who always knows who to connect us with? Absolute lifesaver. These relationships? They're what turn a one-time job into a long-term partnership. They're why we can walk into a facility and spot potential issues before they become major headaches. I see people getting into different industries where they only respect the person who will be paying the invoice. Us? We respect everyone. Our team has been on jobs where staff who work in the business we are working with will make us coffee and show us huge respect. If you show these people the same level of respect, you will form that relationship. It’s not always about getting the CEO on side. A lot of the time, the CEO is too busy and relies on his or her own team to give feedback and input on you. Be good to them… trust me!

Two weeks post-shoulder op yesterday! 🏥 (Turns out I managed to do some real damage once they got in there to inspect 😬). Yesterday I ventured out for food and managed to get my wife to put my hair up, she’s had short hair for 20 years, so this was probably the biggest challenge of the past fortnight! Second challenge of the day? Forgetting I had to eat French toast covered in Nutella with one functioning arm… not my finest moment! 🥞 Anyway… I was back to work the Monday after surgery. Some might think this is crazy behaviour, but I feel really fortunate to be in a position where I can work wherever I am. Starting the day with a conversation with a gentleman in Australia about tunnelling and TBMs was the perfect way to get back to it. I also know I’m lucky to work for a company that recognises how hard I work. While James and Adam did advise me to take a breather, they also know me well enough to realise that the last thing I need is to sit in bed watching TV, feeling sorry for myself, and sulking about not being allowed to go to the gym for a few days 😂. The last two weeks have actually been amazing, my most successful in recruitment to date! I don’t champion pushing yourself when your body needs rest, but there’s a fine line between physical and mental health. Moral of the story: you do you.
