🚀 The Importance of Independent Compliance 🚀 Is your Compliance function truly independent? ENFCO- The European Network for Compliance Officers just released a whitepaper on best practices for Compliance Officers, highlighting the critical need for Compliance to be separate from the legal function. Here's why this is so important: 🔷Independence: A dedicated Compliance function has the freedom to make objective decisions without the pressure of legal considerations. 🔷Sufficient Budget: Dedicated resources ensure that the Compliance function has the tools and technology needed to perform its role effectively. 🔷Direct Access: A seat at the table with the Board and senior management allows for proactive risk management and strategic guidance. Having an independent Compliance function is not just a best practice; it's a necessity for robust governance and risk management in today’s complex regulatory landscape. On behalf of Ethics and Compliance Switzerland I had the pleasure to be an active contributor and lead the working group that created this paper, but would like to thank as well the other contributors, namely Andrijana Bergant, LLB, MBA, AICA, Carlos M. Martins, Radomir Dukov, (PhD Candidate), CFE, CAMS, CSS, CXS, CCAS and Lucia Sanchez-Ocaña Leyun. Please share this with all the Compliance Officers in your network as well as to your friends and colleagues in Legal & Compliance Departments. #Compliance #RiskManagement #Governance #BestPractices #ENFCO #ChiefComplianceOfficer #CCO #LegalAndCompliance

Many still think compliance is about ticking boxes, filing paperwork, and following legal rules. In reality, compliance is one of the strongest safeguards a business can have. It protects against financial and reputational risks, ensures sustainable operations, and builds trust with stakeholders. When integrated properly, compliance does more than meet regulations, it strengthens governance, aligns culture with ethics, and positions the business for long-term growth. At its core, compliance is not a burden, it’s a strategic asset. #GRC #Compliance #RiskManagement #Governance #BusinessGrowth #firmGRC #ISQM1 #falconry360
