We won a major victory for the critically endangered Māui dolphin! New Zealand fishing fleets have been driving the critically endangered Māui dolphin to extinction, with estimates that less than50 individuals remain worldwide. Working on behalf of our grassroots New Zealand client, Māui and Hector’s Dolphin Defenders, we won a case enforcing the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act, which requires the U.S. government to ban seafood imports from any foreign fishery that excessively harms marine mammals. The U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act ensures that the seafood you put on your plate here will not contribute to the depletion or extinction of marine mammals in any part of the world.
