A £2bn Tax Raid on Professional Partnerships? But Will It Stick? Rachel Reeves’ reported move to “equalise” the tax treatment of limited liability partnerships will make many people raise an eyebrow, particularly at the revelation that lawyers, accountants and doctors trading as LLPs aren’t subject to employer National Insurance and pay a lower rate of employee NI. But anyone who’s ever sat around a law firm or Big Four partnership table will know what happens next.
