Exciting developments from NUBURU® Inc. Inc. (BURU) yesterday ⚡🔵 The company has signed an agreement to evaluate a strategic acquisition aimed at accelerating growth in defence applications of its blue laser technology – from counter UAV to missile defence and underwater warfare. What makes this even more compelling is how it connects with TEKNE S.p.A.’s €500m+ orderbook – covering not only Italian military contracts, but also NATO and US defence agreements. Tekne’s backlog of secured orders provides the foundation for scalable growth. Layer on Supply@ME Capital plc(SYME)’s fintech platform and you get a closed-loop ecosystem: BURU delivers next-gen defence tech, Tekne supplies the vehicles & equipment, and SYME enables debt-free monetisation of the pipeline. As a keen fintech investor, I’m following this progress closely – the potential to link defence demand with fintech monetisation makes this one of the most disruptive models I’ve seen in years 🚀 Disclaimer: This is not financial advice. China’s Power Projection vs. Europe’s Reality: The capability gap we can’t Ignore Europe’s defense industrial base is decades behind in several strategic domains. Blue-Water Carriers: China: Fujian (Type-003) supercarrier with electromagnetic catapults is entering sea trials. Europe’s only true CATOBAR carrier, the Charles de Gaulle (France), relies on older steam catapults and is approaching mid-life. The planned PA-Ng carrier won’t sail before ~2038. Italy’s Cavour and Trieste are STOVL platforms, smaller, with limited range and payload so Europe has no operational blue-water supercarrier with electromagnetic catapult (EMALS) capability to match China’s Fujian Stealth & Next-Gen Jets: While China is already testing the carrier-capable J-35 stealth fighter with internal weapons bays, Europe remains in the design phase. Programs such as FCAS (France–Germany–Spain) and Tempest (UK–Italy–Japan partnership) will not field an operational stealth jet for years. Europe has no indigenous stealth fighter ready for carrier operations. Sea-Based Nuclear Deterrence: China: Type 096 SSBN and JL-3 SLBM promise a survivable, globe-ranging triad. Europe: France’s Triomphant and the UK’s Vanguard fleet. Numbers are small, industrial sustainment is limited, and overall sea-coverage and SLBM inventories are far below China’s projected scale. Hypersonics & Long-Range Strike: China: Operational DF-series hypersonic glide vehicles are parade-ready. Europe: ASN4G and FC/ASW are years from deployment. The STRATUS concept remain in R&D or early testing. No European hypersonic weapon is in mass production or deployment, leaving a multi-year gap. Drone & Counter-Drone Ecosystem: China: Swarming UAV/UGV/USV/UUV forces and mobile laser counter-drone units and electronic warfare are doctrine, not demos. Europe fields smaller reconnaissance and combat drones and is trialing lasers in the UK and Germany, but lacks scale, saturation tactics, and integrated C4ISR for mass autonomous operations. Missile Defence / Sea-Based Air Power: China’s modern Type-055 destroyers integrate long-range sensors, anti-ship/anti-air/ASW missiles, and carrier air support, creating a balanced strike fleet. Europe deploys capable systems like Aster, PAAMS, and SAMP/T, yet fleet size is limited and fragmented across nations, with fewer ships that can combine power-projection, missile defense, and sustained blue-water operations. So Europe’s fragmented procurement, dispersed budgets, and slower R&D cycles leave us with capable but small forces. China is fielding volume, speed, and integrated kill-chains across every domain. So a call to act: Accelerate FCAS/Tempest and hypersonic programs. Build a truly European blue-water strategy. Mandate post-quantum cryptography (PQC) across all C4ISR links now, not “later.” #Defensie #DefensieNL #EUDefense #EuropeanSecurity #QuantumSecurity #PostQuantum #MilitaireInnovatie #NAVO #BlackhillsQuantum #QuantumTech #DroneSecurity #Hypersonics #NIS2 #DORA
