Next-Level Collaboration 🤝 Exciting news for Hi-Acts: With the new strategic partnership between Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and RI Research Instruments GmbH, one of our key Hi-Acts partners is entering a new era of collaboration. For over two decades, HZDR and RI have worked side by side on groundbreaking accelerator innovations — from the early days of superconducting RF cavities for the European XFEL to state-of-the-art SRF modules and complete accelerator systems serving labs across the globe. The newly signed framework now elevates this cooperation to the next level. This partnership is particularly crucial for Hi-Acts: ✅ It strengthens the transfer of accelerator-based innovations from research into industrial applications. ✅ It fosters knowledge and talent exchange across academic and industrial frontiers. ✅ It directly supports flagship projects like the Dresden Advanced Light Infrastructure (DALI), recently highlighted as one of Germany’s top national research priorities. What makes this collaboration so valuable for Hi-Acts is its scale and vision: spanning energy, health, and matter, it exemplifies how close interaction between science and industry fuels innovation beyond institutional boundaries. At Hi-Acts, we are convinced that partnerships like HZDR–RI are at the core of our mission: accelerating technologies, solutions, and impact — with science and industry working hand in hand. 🤝 Dr. Peggy Jungke, Christoph Quitmann, Christian Piel Michael Pekeler, Alexander Navitski, Benjamin Bromberger, Andreas Wagner #HiActs #Helmholtz #Innovation #AcceleratorTechnologies #Collaboration #Research #Technology #Transfer #Health #Energy #Matter #SRF #DALI #Industry Photo: HZDR/ J. BEHIND THE SCENES AT NewPhotonics AT ECOC Exhibition. Three days of impressive demos have just concluded in Copenhagen. We responded to requests from other Optica Corporate members to conduct in-depth, deep-tech interviews, cutting through the hype and showcasing real-world demos. Below is what we learned from NewPhotonics. In front of our cameras, we discuss new collaborations with Shunyun Technology and Gemtek Technology Co. Ltd announced this week at ECOC 2025 | 51st European Conference on Optical Communication. Linear Pluggable Optics are essential to reduce energy consumption in datacenters (especially for AI). We saw the new LPO+ module from NewPhotonics, but then Yosef Ben-Ezra, their CTO, revealed to me what they brought to ECOC to show in the secret demo booth. They call their new receiver the “rock star” inside the company. Yosef explains how they have solved the problem of the radio frequency link on the receiver side through the use of photodiodes. And we give you a sneak preview of OFC Conference 2026 in Los Angeles, where they intend to demonstrate 125 112 GB/sec channels on the same chip. Amazing developments. I think you will agree.
