Google has officially launched the Gemini CLI Extensions framework, establishing an open ecosystem for developers to seamlessly integrate the AI-driven Gemini CLI into their daily toolchains using pre-packaged, ready-to-use extensions. These extensions are built around "Playbooks," which include elements such as an MCP server, context instructions, custom commands, and tool deactivation rules. This design enables the AI to quickly learn how to interact with external services without complex configuration. Users can install extensions via simple commands, accessing tools from Google, industry giants (such as Figma, Stripe, Shopify, and Snyk), and the open-source community. These extensions cover critical domains including databases, CI/CD, API management, design systems, security scanning, and cloud services, significantly enhancing development efficiency and intelligence.

5 Tips to Make Your SaaS Load 10x Faster Speed is not a feature. It’s your silent pitch. In SaaS, your first impression is measured in milliseconds. If your platform feels slow, users won’t wait to find out how good your product is. In our early growth phase, our app was functional but far from fast. We weren’t chasing small gains we needed a real performance transformation. Through focused engineering and smart architectural changes, we achieved a 10x improvement in load times without a complete rebuild. Here’s what worked. 1. Replace SSR with Static Rendering and Edge Caching Server-Side Rendering is powerful but can easily become a performance bottleneck. We switched to Static Site Generation (SSG) and edge caching. Pages that once loaded in 2.5 seconds now render in under 300 milliseconds. What helped: • Pre-generated static pages using Next.js • Enabled Incremental Static Regeneration for fresh content • Used CDN-level caching with stale-while-revalidate • Hydrated personalized data asynchronously after the first render Even dashboards benefited from a static shell approach, giving users an instant load experience. 2. Optimize the Critical Rendering Path Most SaaS frontends are heavier than they need to be. Our JavaScript bundle was over 800KB and it showed. We cut load times dramatically by: • Tree-shaking and route-based code splitting • Removing unused CSS and deferring non-essential scripts • Lazy-loading heavy components • Preloading key assets and fonts These changes reduced our Time to Interactive by 70% and improved our Largest Contentful Paint by half. 0.5. Prioritize Backend Performance Frontend optimizations mean little if your backend is slow. Profiling revealed our biggest pain points cold starts, inefficient queries, and redundant fetches. Fixes that worked: • Connection pooling with PgBouncer • Query indexing based on real traces • Redis caching for repeated reads • Warm-up jobs for critical endpoints We also implemented distributed tracing with Open Telemetry to identify latency across services in real time. Final Thought Performance is not just a technical metric, it’s a business differentiator. After these improvements, our activation rate increased by 22%, and “app slowness” tickets dropped to zero. You don’t need a full rebuild. You need precision, focus, and a performance-first mindset. We just flipped our entire messaging around. We've put our Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) approach front and center ☁️ Up until now we've used a broader, softer messaging - of groundcover being a cloud-native observability platform. But as a company that is fighting against a huge company like Datadog, aggressively focusing our positioning against them is critical. Customers will spend 10 seconds figuring out why we're so different, and why others left Datadog for us. We do a lot of things well, but we're the *only* observability company that goes all-in on a BYOC architecture, in a market where 99% of players provide a SaaS model. BYOC is our real positioning: 1/ It provides native data security, privacy and residency control - people don't like their sensitive logs at a 3rd party vendor. 2/ It allows us to price the product differently than the entire market - no $ on data ingestion, indexing or API queries! 3/ It allows us to package the product differently - no gates, no tiers, no limits. one product, one price, all the features. We tried to keep it broad because it's scary to focus and take a stand. Another small step forward in our GTM. Ask me in two months about it after we change it again.
