Today marks the final session of my one-month teaching engagement with the inaugural cohort of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Accountancy Career Launchpad under CETA. This full-time, four-month pilot programme is designed to equip non-accounting graduates with the foundational skills needed to transition into the accountancy sector. During the first month, learners participated in in-person classes covering Financial Accounting and Analysis, Microsoft Excel, and cloud accounting. They now progress into a three-month work-study phase, gaining hands-on experience at accounting firms or corporate entities, alongside modules in auditing and taxation. A big shout-out to Sunny Wong for his tireless efforts in leading this initiative, and to the other dedicated lecturers who supported job placement efforts for the learners. The module concluded with a financial analysis project, where I was deeply impressed by the learners’ zeal, teamwork, and dedication. It has been a privilege to guide and learn alongside this diverse group of adult learners—many of whom bring valuable experience from various industries and are now boldly embarking on new journeys in finance and accounting. Wishing them continued success and growth as they take their next steps.
