Germany selects Raytheon for advanced radar for frigates

🇩🇪📡⚓️ Germany has selected Raytheon’s SPY-6(V)1 radar for its eight upcoming F127-class air defense frigates. The foreign military sales request includes support and services to integrate and adapt the radar to the frigate’s design. If approved, the deal will make Germany the first non-US customer for the SPY-6 system. “Germany’s selection of SPY-6 reaffirms the global confidence in the radar’s advanced capabilities and its critical role in enhancing naval defense,” president of Naval Power at Raytheon Barbara Borgonovi said.

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is conducting market research to identify companies that can provide steel and aluminum boats, targets and service craft for the United State Navy and foreign military sales customers. NAVSEA intends to award 10-year contracts worth an estimated total of $3.5 billion for the boats and crafts. SOUTH CHIINA SEA DEFENSE - PH set to acquire land for new dockyard, naval base in Misamis Oriental - MANILA, Philippines — The Department of National Defense (DND) is set to acquire new land for a naval base and dockyard at the state-owned 3,000-hectare Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation (Phividec) estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental that would serve as the Philippine Navy’s (PN) center of operations in Northern Mindanao and the Visayas. - Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Tuesday told reporters that the DND and Phividec were in talks to use the property to house the PN’s warships. - In a television interview on Wednesday, Teodoro said a naval base shall be constructed in Misamis Oriental because the dockyard was currently in Fort San Felipe in Cavite where Sangley International Airport would be built. - https://lnkd.in/ev4FdT6N
