One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is engaging with students in the Renton School District Teacher Academy—a program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of educators. These aspiring teachers share their goals and aspirations with me, and together, we explore pathways to achieve them. Whether it's through opportunities as paraeducators or substitute roles within our district, we identify tangible steps they can take while pursuing their certifications. The Teacher Academy offers students hands-on experience by pairing them with classrooms as interns, allowing them to apply instructional best practices and gain invaluable insights into the educational system. This not only supports their growth but also strengthens our community by fostering a diverse and dedicated teaching workforce.
