At PropTech Connect in London, I spoke to a logistics company in Holland. They resorted to developing their own energy solution because the national grid had no spare capacity, and there’s a lesson or two in that for U.S. businesses. Infrastructure bottlenecks are everywhere, from utility-scale transmission lines to the meter at your site. Amplify EV leads strategic partnership with Fuuse Amplify EV has announced a new strategic partnership with Fuuse, designed to support local authorities and public charge point owners across Scotland. The deal comes as charge point owners prepare to migrate their charging infrastructure from the ChargePlace Scotland (CPS) network to new commercial providers, throughout 2025 and 2026. This migration plan aligns with Scotland’s targets for zero emission vehicles and aims to foster a larger, more robust public EV charging network, driven by private companies, the firm said. Mexico City-based #VEMO has secured US$250 million in equity in a round led by #VisionRidge Partners to boost its expansion of charging infrastructure, #EV deployment, and tech-enabled EV fleet services across #Mexico. Founded in 2021, VEMO describes itself as a vertically integrated clean-mobility platform. The company operates several different services combining EV delivery, charging #infrastructure, and #AI-powered fleet management. The new funding will drive VEMO’s push to expand metro-wide electric taxi fleets in key urban areas, including #MexicoCity, #Guadalajara, and #Monterrey. The company is also working to scale up its public charging network and has earmarked capital toward enhancing its fleet management platform with the aim of creating a more efficient service. With this latest funding injection, VEMO has now secured total equity financing of over US$350 million. This figure is supplemented by an additional more than US$150 million in debt financing from global and regional lenders like #Orion Infrastructure, #PROMECAP, #Covalto, and #Kapital. When combined, VEMO has raised over US$500 million. VEMO has stated that it company plans to invest more than US$1.5 billion over the next five years to become a leader in Mexico’s EV sector. In July, VEMO secured what it states is the first-ever infrastructure facility for a public EV charging network in #LatinAmerica. #BEEL, the largest private credit investor in infrastructure, energy, and real asset projects in Mexico, provided MXN500 million (US$26.8 million) to VEMO under a 12-year deal. VEMO has stated that these funds will be earmarked specifically for the expansion of its EV charging network, the VEMO Charging Network (#VCM). The VCM currently has over 600 EV chargers installed across Mexico, with plans for over 1000 more to be installed across 18 cities by the end of this year. Vision Ridge Partners has significant experience with investing in the EV sector; VEMO is the seventh #electrified-transport platform to join Vision Ridge’s portfolio. Germán Losada, VEMO’s co-founder, chairman and COO, stated that the new funding is a “key milestone in VEMO’s history”, and that bringing Vison Ridge on board as a key investor underscores the “strategic alignment” built over a number of years between VEMO and Vision Ridge. CEO Roberto Rocha agreed and emphasised the shared vision behind the partnership, noting: “Vision Ridge brings significant global insight into sustainable asset development, along with a demonstrated capacity to support platform-scale #transitions for #businesses like ours.”
