A journey forged in quiet determination. Raised in a 100-square-foot home in Mumbai with tin-sheet walls, no fan or toilet and a stammer that made every word a battle, Kaushik’s early life was defined by limitations. But in the absence of privilege, he chose persistence. To support his family early, he opted for a diploma over a degree and took on hands-on jobs, from wiring intercoms and soldering circuit boards to managing maintenance shifts in cotton mills. The work was tough, the pay modest. But what Kaushik sought most was learning. A glimpse into the world of software sparked a quiet ambition. Still working at the mill, he enrolled in a course at the National Centre for Software Technology. His days blurred into night shifts, local train rides and naps on mill benches. There was no computer at home, no fancy equipment, only an iron will. Over time, opportunities opened up. One job led to another. And eventually, Kaushik found his way to Deloitte. Within a year of joining, he moved his family into their first real home, a deeply personal milestone, 29 years in the making. At Deloitte, across the integration, tech strategy & architecture, digital and engineering teams, he found belonging, growth and purpose. He even completed an executive program at IIM Calcutta. In 2025, Kaushik became an Executive Director. But titles don’t define him, his resilience does. He credits his growth to mentors who believed in him: Vadiraj Muthya, Mayank Rausaria, Rahul Sachdeva, Debasish Chatterjee, Moinuddin Ahmed, Saurabh Kumar, Prashanth Kaddi, Sathish Gopalaiah. Kaushik says, “I did not have it easy, but I have had enough. Enough to be proud. Enough to be grateful.” And we couldn’t be prouder of you, Kaushik. Kaushik Sutar

Reading this brought back memories of my own early struggles. Different circumstances, but the same lesson: limitations don’t define us, choices do.

wow, what a journey. Thanks Romal for sharing. Goes to prove if foundations are resilient, any structure (in this case a professional career) can be built upon.

Inspiring story-which reminds one that if you have an iron will, your courage bigger than the challenges, and you keep moving, tirelessly, you will eventually reach your destination. The path may be difficult, often seem longer because you are walking along while others may run past in cars, but the determination and hard work will take you there. Congratulations Kaushik Sutar !
