PureSpectra at Spectronet 2025 – Innovation in Photonics On September 17–18, 2025, PureSpectra joined the Spectronet Collaboration Conference in Zoetermeer to showcase cutting-edge prism spectroscopy and sensor technology. The event gathered global experts in photonics and machine vision for two days of presentations, demos, and networking. Highlights included: Live demos of spectral imaging systems (380–1680nm) for food and industrial use. A keynote by Dick Goudriaan: “Pure Spectra – Passion for Prisms.” Industry-focused sessions on photonic applications and quality control. Project Snowman Update: TRL-5 ➝ TRL-6 🚀 This past weekend we successfully advanced Project Snowman to TRL-5, validating integrated hardware and safe system operation under extended testing. Key highlights: ✅ Stable startups and shutdowns under repeat testing ✅ Verified safety and power management logic ✅ Bench-tested electronics performed flawlessly Next up: TRL-6 – prototype demonstrations in relevant environments. This is the bridge between controlled lab proof and real-world application. Our mission remains the same: capturing CO₂ at the source with compact, retrofittable vehicle technology. We’re keeping all provisional patent considerations in mind as we move forward—but I couldn’t resist sharing this milestone. Onward to TRL-6 🌍

The 44th conference on Computer Safety, Reliability and Security - Safecomp 2025, was held at Kungliga Tekniska högskolan in Stockholm, in the middle of September. Close to 200 people from over 20 countries met up. With accelerating technical innovation, including in AI and automation, a focus on safety and providing a meeting point between academia and industry has never been more important than before. The first Safecomp conference took place already in 1979 - safety related to computing systems is not new. This year's conference was structured as usual, with an initial day of parallel workshops followed by a 3-day plenary conference. Safecomp 2025 took place in the Student Union house (Kårhuset) - a hidden gem for conference arrangements. Social events included a reception at the City Hall of Stockholm, demonstrations and entertainment in R1 - the KTH former reactor hall, and a conference dinner at the Vasa museum. "Safecomp 2025 has been a great success", says TECoSA Director Martin Törngren. "We had a record number of workshops (8), recorded the keynote talks for posterity, and - for novelty value - Safecomp now has its own song!" #VINSE joined Vanderbilt’s Family Weekend again this year with a booth in the Engineering and Science Building lobby. The display, led by VINSE Cleanroom Manager Benjamin Schmidt, highlighted the tools and processes used in micro- and nanoscale fabrication. Visitors learned how researchers create the tiny structures that power technologies ranging from electronics to medical devices. In addition to hands-on demonstrations, the booth provided information about VINSE programs for students, including NanoDay, Tech Crew, and NanoGuides, as well as outreach and training opportunities available to the wider community. #VINSEVandy

Last weekend at Next Sequence® hackathon, we demonstrated how a robotic arm can seamlessly work alongside other wet lab equipment. We built an MCP server for our remote lab that connects both the Opentrons and the robotic arm — allowing us to “vibe-code” experiments: the Opentrons handles liquid tasks, while the arm moves plates between instruments. For this demo, we trained the arm specifically for this setup. Using about 15 recorded episodes, we trained a smolVLA to autonomously transfer plates from the Opentrons to the plate reader. This is just a small preview of what’s possible in a larger lab environment — with more arms, more instruments, and more automation. Our goal is simple: to accelerate research by building faster, smarter and more connected lab systems.
