Ryan Debenham’s Post

After ten months as GRIN’s President, I’m excited to share that I have stepped into the role of CEO. As you can imagine, my mind is racing, so here’s a quick snapshot of how I feel: → Throughout my career, many people have taken a big bet on me, whether it was leading an important project, building a new team, managing an organization, or ultimately running a company. Today, I’m filled with immense gratitude for all of you who believed in me. You know who you are. → As a former software engineer and CTO, stepping into a President and now CEO role wasn’t something I initially anticipated. Though I’ve worked closely with go-to-market teams, I never fully appreciated the complexity of it until I was responsible for the bottom line. That’s when the advice to “put the customer first” truly made sense. I wish I’d learned that sooner, but I’m grateful to know it now. → The team at GRIN are true warriors, and I’m ready to go to battle with them. I’ve heard culture described as “what someone says or does when leadership isn’t in the room.” To me, that means culture can’t be forced. It’s who we are and how we work together. In a world where many companies lack a strong cultural foundation, I believe ours is a competitive advantage. There is nothing we cannot accomplish if we all row together. → The creator economy is fascinating, complex, and full of unsolved challenges. One of the best parts of my job is helping many of the best brands in the world tap into the power of influence. But there’s still so much more to do. As CEO, I’m honored to have the opportunity to help shape this industry and elevate both brands and creators. → Finally, I want to acknowledge everyone who helped GRIN become what it is today: past and present employees, investors, the board of directors, and especially our co-founders Brian Mechem, Ryan Brown, and our former CEO, now Chairman of the Board, Brandon Brown. Brandon, thank you for leaving me with this legacy. For carrying the torch through all of the highs and lows, and for passing it on to me now. What you and Brian built is incredible, and working for you was a highlight in my career. I am grateful to continue our journey together in this new phase. If you’ve read this far, thank you for being part of my journey. Cheers to the next chapter!

Such a great and inspiring story. I’m not CEO but I’m in a place because multiple people took chances on me. For that I will always be grateful. Go crush it!
