When it comes to crime in the countryside, visibility matters. Rural victims consistently report feeling safer when they see proactive policing on the ground – officers who understand the rhythms of rural life, who know the farms and communities they serve, and who bring reassurance as much as enforcement. Thats why “Rural Forces Rising” is the theme of Day 2 of National Rural Crime Network’s National Rural Crime Action Week 2025, It recognises the role that rural policing plays in giving victims confidence, and in ensuring that crime is not just addressed, but anticipated. The real value of proactive policing lies not just in police arrests or patrols, but in the ‘one-team’ approach across all rural stakeholders. Rural SafeGuard™ extends that same principle, by working alongside the police, membership bodies, and most importantly the farmers themselves. By combining expert insight, community training, and visible recognition, the programme helps farmers and landowners feel supported, not isolated, in the face of rising criminal threats. Will you stand with us and be part of the change? #RuralForcesRising #ProactivePolicing #RuralSafety #CommunitySupport #FarmersTogether #RuralCrimeAction #OneTeamApproach #NationalRuralCrimeActionWeek #SupportRuralPolicing #SafeAndSecure #CriminalThreats #CommunityTraining #Isolated #ExpertInsights

Putting victims back at the heart of Queensland's justice system is a powerful statement. Recently, the Attorney-General and Human Rights Commissioners admitted that for more than 10 years, victims’ rights were poorly protected under Labor. New laws, including the Coercive Control Act, are now being promoted as the answer. But many in Queensland want to know: how does this law actually work? Is there even one case where it has been applied? I know of a case where, over six years, people were: excluded from their home by Domestic Violence Orders issued without substantiated evidence, denied access to property despite significant financial contributions, subjected to repeated false allegations and misuse of legal processes, forced to live under constant psychological stress, isolation, and reputational harm. This is the very essence of coercive control — not only physical, but also psychological and emotional violence. If someone is wrongfully declared a “defendant,” the new legislative tools should provide a way to reconsider such cases. Yet my last contact with Legal Centre showed me that some law firms either have not studied this Act, or simply do not want to apply it. That raises a serious question: will these reforms truly reach the people who need them most? #Queensland #Justice #VictimsRights #CoerciveControl #LawReform https://lnkd.in/p/gnA9PuqQ

The updated Statutory Guidance for Anti-Social Behaviour was released last week. Its focus is to deliver a more victim-centred framework for tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB). Key updates include: ✔️Victims must be invited to participate in ASB case reviews. ✔️ Independent chairs are recommended for ASB case reviews. ✔️ Expanded restorative justice options. ✔️ Clearer guidance for assessing exploitation and abuse in ASB cases and safeguarding referrals being encouraged. ✔️ Stronger emphasis on early action through informal interventions. ✔️ Updated guidance on enforcement powers with a victim-first approach. ✔️ Referrals for victim support are mandatory when the incident meets the criminal threshold. Full details of the updated guidance can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eZvg-2me #AntiSocialBehaviour #StatutoryGuidance #update #PSPO #CPN #CivilInjunction #ASBCaseReview #DispersalPower #ClosurePower

I read a lot about these concern notices and often see the typical response of more resources and technical training. Do we consider culture and wellbeing as a factor. Why should you invest in health and wellbeing. It’s obvious surely. Healthier staff make fewer mistakes. Healthier staff are less likely to engage in misconduct. Over to you.
Today we have issued West Mercia Police with an accelerated cause of concern. The force’s response to safeguarding is inadequate and it hasn’t improved how it manages safeguarding referrals since our previous inspection. It needs to make prompt safeguarding referrals to statutory partners to help keep vulnerable people safe. We have made recommendations to the force to address these concerns. ⤵️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eHKMvHP7
