Hospital plastic gets a second life: €3 million boost for circular healthcare 👩⚕️♻️ Hospitals generate 8% of all plastic waste in Europe—much of it clean, reusable, yet still incinerated. What started as a pilot in Zuyderland Medical Centre is now scaling up: the €3 million EU-backed CIRHECA project aims to recycle hospital plastics into high-quality medical materials. Led by Maastricht University with partners across the Meuse-Rhine region, CIRHECA brings together hospitals, scientists, and industry. With 𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗔, we convert this waste into high-quality plastics for medical applications.
