“𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺, 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 #𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘹 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨?” … said no one ever. 😐 This summer, I challenged myself: 𝗻𝗼 𝗧𝗩 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵. 📺 No series, no movies, no Netflix, no “just one more episode” turning into five. I wanted to see what would happen if I removed the default way of unwinding after a long workday. Here’s what I noticed: • My partner and I had more 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹, 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 • We ended up doing 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, like visiting a museum and playing a game of pool in the pub. • Instead of collapsing in front of the TV, I went for 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. And yes.. deep down you know that’s good for you, but now I actually felt it. It's way more relaxing and rewarding than another episode. • I 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲, and when I felt tired, I simply went to bed earlier (yay for feeling more rested!) No bright screen keeping me up late. No autoplay luring me in for another episode. Of course, there were new temptations. My smartphone tried to claim that freed-up time. But overall, this experiment showed me how automatic TV watching had become, and what I could gain by breaking that habit. I love shaking up my routines now and then. Not because I think everything needs to change, but to explore what truly adds value. This month reminded me that fewer passive screen hours can lead to better sleep, more connection, and more intentional evenings. ❤️ ... ... Ok.. I did have one cheat day after the Zwarte Cross festival.. 🤫 oopsie.
