Even Sr. SDEs hit a plateau. I know because I’ve been there. With 4.5 years in Java and Python, I hit a point where my growth hit its peak. And yes, even seniors can feel that there is no more room for growth in their current company. But personally, here’s what helped me break out of that phase 👇 → I picked one stack and mastered it end-to-end, not just using it, but understanding how it worked in depth. → I also went back to some core system design fundamentals to help break down real-world architectures. → I rebuilt small systems like auth flows, scalable APIs, & payment gateways from scratch. → And finally I practiced with mentors already in Senior roles & their feedback was huge and provided a lot of clarity. The biggest change was 👉 I stopped chasing random tutorials and followed a structured plan aligned with senior-level expectations. That’s what gave me the confidence to not just switch, but to actually grow as a Senior engineer.
