If your eCommerce traffic is down, it's not always Google's fault. Sometimes, you're the leak. Before you spend another dollar on ads or new content, do this $0 SEO audit that reveals where your traffic is quietly dying: 1. Go to Google Search Console → Performance → Pages tab → Sort by "Clicks difference" These are your pages losing traffic (pages with declining clicks). 2. Paste those URLs into Ahrefs or SEMrush Check if backlinks dropped. 3. Open the pages Look for outdated info, missing schema, or slow load times. 4. Refresh content, re-index, and watch clicks recover Sometimes the best "SEO growth strategy" is fixing what's already broken.

This local service business spent $18k with me. I brought them $254,000 in the following 6 months with SEO: 1. We built a site that converts. Their old site looked like it was from the Stone Age. We’re talking: > Keywords hidden in white text > A homepage from 2015 > No clear CTAs or trust elements Our focus: turn SEO traffic into leads. We rebuilt the hero section with: > Clear CTAs (large call button) > Lead magnet form (claim rebate) > 4.9-star rating > Service area and licensing info > Up to 10-year warranty We made it easy for users to justify calling. 2. Location and service pages. The site had no dedicated pages for services or service areas. We built: > 4 core location pages > 3 service pages per location This showed Google the business matched local search intent. We used this URL structure: /service-areas/[location]/[service-in-location] 3. Google Business Profile (the first touchpoint). 70% of leads came from the Map Pack. So we revamped the profile: > Updated category and business name > Uploaded geotagged photos/videos > Refined the service area > Added keyword-rich service descriptions Result: ranking improved from 17th to 7th. But trust was still missing. 4. Trust and reputation (to rank #1). Even with a great profile, without trust, you won’t rank. We launched our review system: > Trained techs to ask after each job > Sent follow-up emails and texts > Reviews from Craigslist > Responded to every review > Built 130 directory profiles and indexed them That pushed their average position from ~7th to 2.8. 5. Local subreddits and Facebook groups. Not a core service of mine, but effective. We posted in local groups where homeowners hang out: > Wrote natural, user-style posts > Engaged in comments without overselling Result: roughly $47,000 in added revenue over 5–6 months. 6. Tracking setup. It’s not sexy, but it's necessary. “But Christi, shouldn’t we be submitting the site map more often to help SEO?” This is a common question, and the answer might surprise you: you actually don't need to submit your sitemap manually, if you set it up right in the first place with Google Search Console. Once your sitemap is submitted via Google Search Console, Google (and other search engines) will typically crawl it on a regular basis, and you can even control the frequency. You only need to resubmit it if you've made significant structural changes to your website, such as adding a large number of new pages or completely reorganizing your site. Think of it as giving Google the keys to your house. Once they have them, they'll check in periodically. Just make sure the door is unlocked (your sitemap is up-to-date) when they stop by! Google Search Console is FREE and takes less than 10 minutes to set up.
