What does empathy mean to you? In a group coaching session last week, the conversation slid from exploration into explanation—and then into complaints about dysfunction in a cross-functional team. For 15 minutes, people spoke with tones of frustration and sarcasm. And then, a senior leader broke the silence: “Thank you for pouring it out. What took us so long to let it flow?” They didn’t react to the complaining. They responded to it—as an opportunity to reconnect, rebuild trust, and foster safety. ✨ This is #empathy in action. Not a script. Not a textbook skill. But the capacity to create space where people feel, “𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦.” Research shows that teams led with empathy report higher trust, greater resilience, and up to 𝟱𝟬% 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (Centre for Creative Leadership, 2022). Empathy translates into #exceptional #leadership when it: #Builds trust → people become more open and honest. #Fosters psychological safety → innovation thrives where risk-taking feels safe. #Increases resilience → challenges are met with validation, not isolation. #Enhances collaboration → people feel valued, not judged. #Drives performance → supported teams are inspired teams. #Creates belonging → the quiet message, “You matter here.” #Leaders, what does empathy look like in your leadership today? #DysfunctionToAlignment #EmpathyInAction #GroupTeamCoaching #LeadershipGrowth #FacilitationFollowedByCoaching Eélan Coaching & Consulting Services Follow us!
