Boring Entrepreneurs... When I was in Dubai a few years ago, I met an entrepreneur who built custom eyeglass frames. He was from a small village in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. His market was the Middle East and Africa. I casually asked him about his revenues. He said ₹3,000 crores—that’s around $351 million USD. Having moved from India with little or no money, he built this business through bootstrapping over 30 years. Today, I learned that the entire purple carpet used during President Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia—from the moment he landed until he returned—was supplied by another migrant entrepreneur from a small town in Tamil Nadu. While the world is obsessed with publicizing large venture capital fundraises (we see more press releases about fundraising than actual success stories on LinkedIn), there are people around the world building lasting businesses purely by bootstrapping. I recently read an article stating that five out of the ten billionaires in the UAE are Indian migrants who moved there 40 to 50 years ago with little or no money. (I will write about them soon). #entrepreneur #venturecapital #bootstrapping
You are right. There are many similar inspiring stories in Dubai and Saudi Market.

4dSiva Nadarajah Question, how many VCs you know, can you name a handful who have bootstraped a business, because there is something to be said about it that only those who have walked that will be able to relate, do you agree? Oh by the way, there are some Sri Lankans you can add to list too...
