SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s Post

Meet the new instruments on the block…at the world’s most powerful X-ray laser, our Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS)! They are expanding our capabilities and making more science possible: 🔬 DREAM is a powerful reaction microscope that focuses an X-ray beam on a single molecule, stripping away its electrons until it explodes, allowing researchers to construct a molecular movie of the reaction. 🛞 MRCO is an array of 16 electron detectors that can pinpoint the moment an electron is ejected from a molecule and measure the subsequent energy spectrum. 🌡️ qRIX features a 12-foot spectrometer that swivels 160 degrees, good for studying the quantum dynamics of solid crystalline materials and high temperature superconductors. 🧪 ChemRIX is tailored to analyze the chemistry of liquid samples. https://lnkd.in/gpdRAEXR
