We could not be more proud of our own Justin Fogt, Director of Cardiac Nursing Services, who was honored this week with the ScionHealth 2025 Monarch Caring and Community Award, the highest honor given to only three caregivers across our vast System’s more than 80 sister community and specialty hospitals nationwide.
A Columbus native, Fogt continually puts our patients at the forefront of everything he does as a nursing leader. Making connections to patients is a cornerstone of the healing process and Fogt leads from the front, delivering consistent five-star care to those who depend on us every day.
“If you can connect with a patient, their care is so much more meaningful for you and for them,” he says. “The greatest advice I could give anyone and what I try to instill in our staff from a nursing standpoint is that you are there to care for that person in that bed – it’s great to have the clinical data and knowledge, but the best thing any of us can do is focus on that person and learn how to care for their body, soul, and mind.”

The thing that makes people great leaders is their own personal standard in their own personal ethic, and Justin does not let somebody else define that for him. He has defined that for himself and no matter how those are operating around him, he is going to maintain his own standard. Just Info is one of our most famous employees here at Saint Francis. He is our director of cardiovascular services. He runs our telemetry unit. Justin has really grown to be an. Excellent. Later here he started out as an orderly and our OR and he progressed to a bedside RN and he has worked in our quality department and up into being the leader. He wants to have fun, make a positive difference in the lives of others and be meaningful, be present and he does a fantastic job with that. And we respect Justin because he does what he says he's going to do. He came in with great ideals and goals for where he wants us to be and where he wants us to go. And he is fulfilling those promises. There is a challenge if there's a struggle, just as the first to volunteer, he's in the front. Justin is very service minded. He serves his community in multiple capacities. He has three beautiful children. Him and his wife participate in multiple activities outside the hospital. And Justin? Has also a part of our National Guard. He had the great honor to lead a battalion to provide some humanitarian efforts in Kosovo and then he returned and plugged right back into Saint Francis and into the team providing excellent leadership. He has a unique style to be able to pull things out of people that they didn't even know that they had. Justin hired me into my first leadership position. He is very good at identifying where people's strengths are and putting them in those. Decisions, even when they may not realize it themselves, encourage me to go back to school this year with him. So we're both obtaining our masters degree and probably without his push, I don't know that I would have done that. He's very kind. He's a very thoughtful leader. Justin always thinks about his staff. You know that he will back you up. You know that if you need him, he'll be there. In a rapid situation, he's there and he will stand there with us always. Think about high performers, whether it be clinically, whether it be leadership, being a servant for others, just in basically models all of those behaviors that you want in that excellent employee. And I think that's probably what sets Justin apart. He has a very genuine relationship with our staff of 100 plus employees, which is not an easy task. He is able to step in, in those emergent situations because he is so clinically competent and provide. Leadership in a clinical setting and administration side as well. He has a great character that he's a strong leader. He's a good man. He's a very good nurse. When you read the description of the type of individuals that we want to recognize nationally, it's almost like they wrote that just for Justin. Justin is the model of what we want at scion at Emory, Saint Francis. Justin seems to. I figured out a lot of keys to life and he lives that. I can't think of a better person to be nominated and given an award as the most outstanding caregiver and employee in our organization. That's just it.
