Our team in Nairobi is growing! 🌍   We are thrilled to welcome Siongo Kisoso as our new Regional Director for East Africa. With over 16 years of experience in banking, corporate finance, and investments, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the region’s opportunities and challenges - experience that will help guide our efforts and strategy to increase our support for sustainable growth in East Africa.   As he settles into his role, we asked Siongo to share some thoughts on what lies ahead: - What excites you most about joining Swedfund? I’m excited to join Swedfund because of its ambitious and open approach to development finance, which is closely aligned with local development priorities across East Africa. The strong emphasis on impact—particularly in areas such as job creation, and climate resilience—resonates deeply with me. I see a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully across diverse markets and help scale sustainable investments that drive long-term change. - What inspired you to take on this new role? This role brings together two things I care deeply about: leveraging finance and investment expertise to create meaningful impact, and working with talented, purpose-driven individuals. The alignment between my professional background and Swedfund’s mission made the decision a natural one. I’m inspired by the opportunity to build on a strong foundation and contribute to shaping inclusive and sustainable growth in the region. - Which sectors in East Africa hold the greatest potential for sustainable growth and impact in the coming years? While it’s difficult to pinpoint a single sector due to the interconnected nature of various topics in sustainable development, I believe infrastructure, manufacturing, and education stand out. These dimension not only create critical linkages within and outside economies but also have the potential to generate quality jobs, enhance productivity, and foster resilience.   We look forward to working with you, Siongo.
