🛡 A new milestone in advanced cybersecurity 🇪🇺 Thales is launching the first "post-quantum ready" smartcard certified in Europe, securing sensitive data like stored in national IDs, healthcare cards and driver's licences against tomorrow’s quantum threats. ✅ Certified at a high level of cyber assurance ✅ Based on post-quantum cryptographic mechanisms ✅ Ready for large-scale deployment by governments and institutions This innovation sets a new benchmark for long-term identity protection in the quantum era without compromising usability. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e5ne2tMr #Thales #QuantumSecurity #DigitalIdentity #PostQuantum #Smartcard #CyberResilience #Sovereignty Thales Cyber and DigitalNathalie GossettANSSI - Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'informationnFranck Sadmii
congrats team ! this is good to see first PQC ready products offered to the market and organizations who can start test, deploy and progress in their PQC journey ! Don't forget Crypto Agility is Key !

kudos
Great to see post-quantum cryptography moving from theory to production-ready hardware. The real test will be maintaining backward compatibility and interoperability across existing infrastructure as we transition - a challenge that extends beyond the smartcard itself to readers, middleware, and legacy systems that weren't designed with PQC in mind. Smartcards sit at a critical juncture of physical security and digital identity, and this proactive approach to quantum-readiness is essential. With quantum computing timelines accelerating and 'harvest now, decrypt later' attacks already a concern, the window for migration is narrower than many organisations realise.
Tomorrow, here today
What this will do?
Really interesting to see how quantum-resistant cryptography is becoming a concrete reality. It’s exciting to think how this will reshape the way we secure digital data in the years ahead !

1wThis is a pivotal moment for cybersecurity. Thales’ quantum-resistant smartcard certification demonstrates exactly where identity protection must go, preparing today for threats that don’t yet exist at scale. The post-quantum era won’t arrive overnight, but when it does, it will break much of our existing asymmetric cryptography. Moves like this show real leadership in bridging innovation and long-term trust.
