Join us on June 7 at the Photoville Festival for our Visualizing Criminal Justice session at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. The images we choose to share, like the words we choose to use, can have an impact on the communities we cover and the public’s understanding of those communities. This conversation — between documentary photographer Brian L. Frank and The Marshall Project’s multimedia editors Celina Fang and Jovelle T. Tamayo — aims to educate around stereotypical representations used in criminal justice coverage and explore solutions for more sensitive image-making practices. Frank, a former fellow with Catchlight and The Marshall Project, will discuss his approach to his work on young mens’ experiences with the criminal justice system. This event is co-sponsored by The Marshall Project and Catchlight. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eyCa9n2c
