A few years ago, fresh from my experience as a board member of Make-A-Wish America, I asked my colleague Aiko Tan, MBA: “We have Make-A-Wish for kids. Why not for older adults?” And from that SCANkind was born. In a new essay in Becker's Healthcare, I describe the lessons Aiko and her team learned working with over 200 of the first people served by SCANkind. It’s been a remarkable journey with many lessons. Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA, what an inspiring initiative. Transforming compassion into action for older adults truly creates impactful change.
This is beautiful and wonderful. Thank you for SCANKind!
Extraordinary work! Loved reading this article first thing in morning.
Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA love this! And it sounds like really important work and impact. It also sounds like you are helping identify and solve basic human needs and gaps in fractured and broken systems. While Make-A-Wish America is fulfilling the dreams of kids, you are helping adults access life necessities. 🙏🏻 It takes a village.
15 years ago, Jeremy Bloom founded Wish of a Lifetime, a nonprofit that has been granting wishes to older adults ever since. There should be ample opportunity to further expand this concept!

Senior CARE Action Network at work here. Love it.
Taking a wish and giving it wrinkles is genius. Purpose-driven doesn’t have to stop at retirement. This is compassion with teeth, and it’s long overdue.
