Some startups are born out of a grand desire to change the world, some are born out of a desire to change people. Axia Africa is both. An edtech company whose mission is to equip Africans with skills that make them employable, Axia Africa was born out of a desire to solve the talent problem that continues to plague the African tech ecosystem. Olawale Samuel started out teaching people on his social media following how to design, then expanded into an edtech platform with thousands of students. But this journey wasn’t without its challenges. O(n) Club: Turning Argentina into the new Silicon Valley WHY O(n) was born from a clear vision: Argentina has the talent, creativity, and hunger to become the new Silicon Valley. Our mission is to build a strong, tight-knit community of founders and builders who aren't just dreaming about the future, they're actively building it. WHAT We create spaces for these minds to meet, collaborate, and grow. From universities to innovation hubs, we aim to be where ideas are born. Our approach includes events that blend technical skill with human connection: hackathons, talks, workshops, and intimate networking gatherings. So far, we've been part of initiatives like ShipBA Hackathon, HackTheChat and the two editions of Root, our flagship networking event that’s already gaining a mystique of its own. We've hosted founder meetups, enabling early-stage startups to connect with seasoned builders. Within O(n), members mentor each other, and we've enabled talent matchmaking between top performers and fast-growing startups. Some examples: members joined SquadS, Melian, Rebill, and more through our internal headhunting. NEXT STEPS Now, we’re moving into the next phase. A new track focused on mentorship and deep ecosystem immersion. We're also expanding university outreach, actively headhunting top talent from highly renown universities and social media. The future is already being written in code. Now, we’re building it.

One sentence from Ursula von der Leyen summed up Europe’s biggest opportunity. At Italian Tech Week in Turin, she spoke about making bureaucracy simpler and building a faster, unified way for startups to scale across Europe, just like in the US. At London Stock Exchange’s event from female founders last month, Debbie Wosskow, OBE reminded us of how little capital (<2%) makes its way to female founders. I was at the House of Lords yesterday for the launch of Bae HQ’s State of Asian Funding report where I learned that if you’re an Asian female, that statistic is just 0.2%. While venture capital doesn’t suit most businesses and in my opinion, shouldn’t put women off starting a business as there are other sources of capital available, it’s great that the venture ecosystem gets it and is addressing the problem through initiatives like the one below.
