Microsoft led a study revealing that AI-crafted toxins can evade DNA security screens. The research showed that up to 100% of AI-generated ricin-like proteins bypassed detection by current biosecurity systems. Microsoft's Eric Horvitz and Bruce Wittmann conducted the study to identify vulnerabilities in DNA biosecurity safeguards. Following the findings, most vendors updated their software, improving detection rates to 72%.
