Military risk calculus shifts dramatically when organizations operate under constant deployment pressure, changing their willingness to adopt new technology. Emelia Probasco, Senior Fellow at Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET), tells Ian how the Maven Smart System succeeded through "trilingual leaders" who mastered operations, technology, and contracting simultaneously, integrating commercial solutions into military workflows without traditional bureaucratic delays. The future of defense collaboration is here, and it’s not email. From ChatOps to JADC2, AI, and mobile-first collaboration at the tactical edge, defense organizations are rethinking how warfighters access mission-critical information. The goal: faster, more informed decisions when it matters most. This blog highlights our latest conversation with former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Operative AJ Nash and our VP of Public Sector Matthew Heideman. A key takeaway? For defense and intelligence leaders, collaboration isn’t just messaging, it’s decision advantage. https://lnkd.in/gaZZRX_e #Defense #MissionCritical #MissionInMotion #Collaboration #SecureCommunication #Warfighters

The US Army’s NGC2 system represents a major shift in how defense technology is developed — embracing agile principles where speed, adaptation, and learning drive progress. A great example of how even the most complex organizations can innovate by moving fast, failing fast, and fixing fast. #Innovation #DefenseTechnology #Leadership https://lnkd.in/exQ4SXBP

The US Army’s Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program is moving fast - from #battalion tests to a full division prototype. At its core, NGC2 is about unifying software, data, and communications into one operational ecosystem. Every six weeks, new capabilities are added, tested, and refined in live conditions. From an 🇦🇺Army Reserve 🫡 perspective: • This kind of continuous, software-driven modernisation reflects a shift from “project delivery” to “operational evolution.” • The close loop between doctrine writers, vendors, and soldiers in the field is something every force can learn from. • Data-informed decisions aren’t replacing command judgment - they’re reinforcing it. ⁉️The question for us is how Reserve elements can plug into this faster, more agile model of defence innovation. 👉If successful, NGC2 could redefine what “digital readiness” really means. #DefenceTech #DigitalArmy #CommandAndControl #AIdefence #Leadership #ArmyReserve #Modernisation #Innovation https://lnkd.in/ef-eBkPK

What happens when Silicon Valley innovation collides with defense sector realities? The answer isn’t just about technology—it’s about talent, partnerships, and the speed of reform. I had an intriguing conversation with @Adam McLintlock of Korn Ferry at the Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference to explore where defense technology is headed. Adam brings a unique perspective as both a Navy veteran and a leader in executive search for aerospace, defense, and government services. Together, we unpacked: Why acquisition reform could make or break the future of defense tech How startups, VCs, and primes can partner more effectively The promise—and limits—of AI in defense applications Why the right leadership talent is as important as the right technologies The defense sector is facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rethink how innovation scales. This conversation highlights both the challenges and the optimism shaping the future.
