"Good news all, public beta of our XCP-ng integration is now available." Anton Gostev (Veeam Software). 🚀 For this beta, usage reporting must be enabled — not for telemetry, but so Veeam can gather essential adoption data (unique installation ID + number of protected VMs only). These numbers will help make the case for a full release. If you’re currently using Veeam Software with VMware and are evaluating Vates Virtualization Management Stack (XCP-ng / Xen Orchestra)-ng / XenServer as an alternative (or already running it in production), this is your chance to influence the roadmap. The beta requires Xen Orchestra for management (not XenCenter/XCP-ng Center), but setup is quick even with the free community edition. 🚨 New Blog Post — #Veeam v13: A Linux-First leap toward secure, simplified Backup Infrastructure 🚨 Veeam Software has just released #Backup & Replication v13, and it’s not just another version bump, it’s a strategic reset. At the heart of this release is the Veeam Software Appliance (VSA): -Pre-hardened, Rocky Linux-based (Built-in PostgreSQL 17.6 -SSH disabled by default -BLAKE3 hashing for faster, lighter backups -A brand-new Web UI (Aurora) with SAML SSO and RBAC -Immutable backup repository included -Agentless support for Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, and vSphere 9.0 This is a Linux-first, security-first, and appliance-first approach to modern #DataProtection and it’s fully production-ready for greenfield deployments. In our latest blog post, we break down: -The architecture of the VSA -Deployment options (OVA, ISO) -Performance and security enhancements -Limitations and roadmap 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dzVx97_M 💬 Curious how this fits into your backup strategy? +++ Doing Backups the right way +++ How to build Backup Solutions that leave nothing to be desired Yesterday at #NextcloudConf25 I've been talking about how to implement zero downtime backups for Nextcloud. But that's only a small step in having backups that you can be confident in. In my last last blog post (https://lnkd.in/e93Rdjxp), I've been talking about what criteria should be considered for your backups. In this new article, I'm giving detailed step by step instructions with code examples for actually building a backup process that fulfills them with the example of a Nextcloud server. 💪 For all the hype around Model Context Protocol, one thing is still very clear to me: MCP is still 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 in enterprise environments. 📖 Here's some weekend reading/exercises to brush up on MCP step-by-step. 🙏 In this series I've built, we walk through building a remote HTTP MCP server. We also tackle the authorization aspects according to the MCP spec. However, the MCP spec misses very important context around enterprise environments. 🔗 In the comments I leave links for part 1-4 of building an MCP server with authz according to the spec, then I leave links for videos that show how MCP/agent authz SHOULD be implemented in an enterprise. 🎉 Happy weekend!

💡 IBM Licensing — What You Need to Know IBM’s licensing model is one of the most complex and detailed in the IT Asset Management world. Unlike more straightforward vendors, IBM licensing often requires a deep understanding of metrics, sub-capacity rules, and specific software measurement tools. Here are a few key points every SAM professional should know: 🔹 Sub-Capacity Licensing — IBM allows licensing only the portion of processing capacity actually used, but this requires proper setup and regular reporting via the ILMT tool. 🔹 License Metric Units (LMUs) — IBM measures software use based on customized metrics (like PVU, RVU, or Authorized Users), making accuracy essential. 🔹 Audit Readiness — IBM is known for its detailed audits. Keeping documentation, ILMT reports, and deployment records up to date is non-negotiable. 🔹 Cloud Licensing — As IBM expands into hybrid and cloud services, understanding how entitlements translate between on-premises and cloud environments is crucial. ✅ A solid IBM licensing strategy can prevent costly findings and ensure that your organization remains compliant while optimizing costs. 🔗 For further insights, I recommend checking IBM’s official License Information documents and ILMT resources: https://lnkd.in/dHyGYwkq #IBMLicensing #SAM #ITAssetManagement #Compliance #ITGovernance #CostOptimization #SoftwareAssetManagement #ILMT #LicenseManagement

! Active Directory Migration – Trust & FSMO Critical Insights In every AD migration, the final cutover is the most crucial phase. Recently, while preparing for a trust decommission and domain cutover, I revisited a few critical checkpoints that help ensure a seamless transition: 1️⃣ Validate Replication Health Ensure AD replication across all domain controllers is error-free before cutover. Use tools like: repadmin /replsummary and dcdiag /v 2️⃣ FSMO Role Stability Confirm FSMO roles are transferred and visible in the target domain. Roles such as PDC Emulator, RID, Infrastructure Master, Schema Master, Domain Naming Master must be verified for proper ownership and health. 3️⃣ Application & IAM Dependencies Identify any application services or IAM (Identity & Access Management) dependencies linked to legacy domain service accounts. Update or rebind these with new credentials or SPNs to prevent authentication failures. 4️⃣ Trust Validation Before Break Validate two-way trust communication using: nltest /domain_trusts and netdom trust /verify Once confirmed, document every configuration snapshot for rollback readiness. 5️⃣ Post Trust Break Readiness Ensure a rollback plan exists — snapshots, system state backups, and GPO exports — in case authentication errors or SIDHistory lookups fail. Pro Tip: Engage with Microsoft Premier/Unified Support when performing production-level trust breaks. Their insights can help detect latent replication or schema issues early. A seamless AD cutover isn’t just about migration — it’s about planning rollback as carefully as planning go-live. #ActiveDirectory #Microsoft #M365 #ADMigration #SysAdmin #Infrastructure #Wipro #TechLeadership #EnterpriseIT #TechCareers #ITJobs

📢 New Fabric Toolbox Release: DAX Performance Tuner MCP Server 🚀 With all of the buzz around MCP servers, I wanted to see if one could be created that would help you optimize DAX. 🛠️ Introducing: DAX Performance Tuner! The MCP server give LLMs the tools it needs to optimize your DAX queries using a systematic, research-driven process. How it works: After the LLM connects to your model, it prepares your query for optimization. This includes defining model measures and UDFs, executing the query several times under a trace, returning relevant optimization guidance, and defining the relevant parts of the model’s metadata. After analyzing the results, the LLM will attempt to optimize your query, ensuring it returns the same results. It is definitely not perfect, but I have seen some pretty impressive results so far. It helped optimize a 150-line query's duration by 94% (140s to 8s)! I would love to hear your feedback if you get a chance to test it out. 🙂 Link to repo ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eZZ2QQvN Link to demo video ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eArqsR2R
