🌱 Your next favorite garden might be… open source?
In his latest blog, Allen Smith compares the Umbraco community to a thriving garden, and honestly, we couldn’t agree more 🌻🌿
Just like plants, open source communities need sunshine (encouragement), water (collaboration), and a little fertilizer (humor helps, too) 😄
Whether you love writing docs, mentoring newcomers, coding, organizing events, or just cheering others on, there’s a pathway for you in this garden.
Check out Allen’s blog to discover how you can get involved and grow alongside the friendly folks who make Umbraco what it is.

Oh, hey. I was watering my plants
today and I got to thinking about how open source communities are a lot like plants. I mean, technically they're more like gardens,
but the principles are still the same. They need sunshine. They need
water. They need nutrients. They need a positive environment
where they can thrive. And open source communities and open
source projects are very much the same way. They rely on a lot of different
things besides just code. And oftentimes people come up to me
and my colleagues on the developer relations team at Umbraco and they
ask us, "How can I get more involved?" Like, "How do I get more involved
in the Umbraco community?" And if you're new here, or if you're new to any
open source community, it can be intimidating, or even if you've been around for a while and you
just don't know what the next steps are to take, we have put together a really helpful guide for
how to take those next steps in the community. How to find your pathway. How to find the best
way to show up and contribute to our community. We have a blog post linked below this video and
we also have a helpful guide on our community site and it'll guide you through the steps that you
need to find your people, find your pathway, and make some noise about all the awesome
things that you're doing in the community. Open source communities can only thrive
when people show up and participate, and share a part of themselves. And we're
so eager to see what types of things you'd like to bring to the
community going forward. So, take a look at that guide and
find your pathway. Find your people. We're excited you're here and we're excited
about the next steps that you're going to take. See you. I'm going to go back to watering my plants. Yes. You're doing so good.
Allen Smith This is giving me some serious Bob Ross vibes. Just makes me feel happy while listening. I’m proud to be a part of this growing community. 🌱 💚 🪴
