"Agentic AI: The Future of Logistics"

David Coburn recently published one of the most thoughtful overviews of agentic AI we've seen so far ⚙️🤔 He captures the real promise behind the buzz: AI agents that don’t simply answer questions but instead they can act, coordinating across systems, learning from outcomes, and reshaping how supply chains function. It’s exciting, overdue, and happening fast. But here’s the part we think is critical (yet) often missing: 🚨 Agentic AI only works when the agents are connected 🚨 By connected, we mean shared context, memory, and data. Without that, you end up with smart agents making isolated decisions meaning they can solve local problems but do little to address global ones. This is something that we need to avoid (as we've already seen results when each team builds their own siloed system). At UnitySCM, we’re building the platform to avoid that mistake. Not just another agent, but the connective tissue between them. So your freight audit agent can catch billing errors but equally, it can also then inform contract negotiation. Your booking agent doesn’t just pick the cheapest carrier, it understands service risk, performance history, and delivery windows. Your entire operation starts to learn and improve as a system. This is Agentic Logistics: a modular, AI-powered approach where specialized agents collaborate across a shared platform with each one making the others better. David’s piece lays the groundwork for what’s coming. We’re working on the infrastructure to make sure it delivers. Highly recommend giving the article a read if you haven’t already (link in comments). Thanks for the thoughtful exploration, David 👏

Well said. Siloes are indeed the enemy of true end-to-end supply chain orchestration and all the benefits agentic AI can potentially deliver, including disruption-proofing supply chains. Look for my story on the latter topic coming in MHI Solutions magazine in September.
