University of Rochester Medical Center’s Post

A remarkable milestone on 43400: our Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Unit has been CLABSI-free for over a year! A CLABSI—central line-associated bloodstream infection—is a serious infection that can occur when germs enter the bloodstream through a central line. Because many of our patients live with long-term central lines, PA catheters, or even external devices that pump their blood while awaiting transplant, they are at exceptionally high risk. Despite these challenges, our nurses, physicians, and staff have upheld the highest standards of infection prevention and patient care. Congratulations and thank you to the team for always prioritizing patient safety and quality care!
